Have you ever encountered the following situations in the design, installation and operation of slaughtering and processing cold storage?
In fact, during the design of slaughtering and processing cold storage, a comprehensive consideration of the actual operating environment and differing needs of each slaughtering step, the integration of functionality and practicality, attention to every design detail, and the implementation of every fine-tuned design point can create overall value for the cold storage facility. For example, in this Eden refrigeration solution, our engineers, responding to the need to reduce operating costs, broke away from the traditional single-refrigeration-system design and used a heat recovery system and Eden hot-gas defrost unit coolers to achieve energy savings. At the same time, customised Eden unit coolers reduce the adverse impact of high-humidity environments on equipment operation and maintenance. Thanks to the high refrigeration efficiency of Eden unit coolers and their uniform, gentle airflow, the moisture in ingredients can be fully retained and nutrients preserved, so that during frozen storage of lamb, neither weight nor nutrients are lost.

| Slaughtering and Processing Cold Storage Project
The slaughtering and processing plant covers approximately 11,000 m², comprising three areas: the slaughtering area, the by-product processing area and the finished-product cutting area, with a planned slaughtering capacity of 3,000 sheep per day.

Energy saving with the heat recovery system and Eden hot-gas defrost technology
Eden’s hot-gas defrost technology routes the high-temperature gas discharged by the refrigeration compressor, after oil separation, into the Eden unit cooler to melt the frost layer on its exterior, eliminating the energy consumption required by traditional electric defrosting. In this project, the freezing rooms, freezer rooms and chiller rooms all use this type of Eden hot-gas defrost unit cooler, which helps the slaughtering and processing cold storage save energy and reduce emissions while ensuring efficient defrosting. In addition, the heat recovery system is applied to the floor insulation, using ethylene glycol as the medium to heat the floor of the cold area. The heat contained in the high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant discharged by the compressor is recovered, thereby improving energy utilisation efficiency and optimising the overall operating efficiency of the refrigeration system.
Designed for high-humidity environments: customised Eden unit coolers
When carcasses are stored in the freezing room, the humidity is high, and moisture in the air condenses on the cooler fins as frost, potentially causing ice blockage. Once the fins frost over, the airflow path can easily become blocked, preventing the cold storage from reaching the expected temperature. In addition, compressor efficiency suffers, increasing the power consumption of the refrigeration system. In response to this storage environment, Eden customised unit coolers adopt a large fin-spacing design, effectively eliminating the risk of frost blockage, reducing power consumption and saving energy. The stainless steel housing provides excellent impact resistance and corrosion resistance, maintaining outstanding durability in high-humidity environments.
